FELA Lawsuit Filed by Arkansas Man
-January 28, 2007
A railroad worker in Arkansas recently filed a lawsuit against Union Pacific alleging they failed to provide him with a safe working environment.
The suit was filed under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act (FELA) in Madison County.
Trackman Accuses Company of Negligence
Billy Surratt says that during his employment with Union Pacific he was required to make repetitive and highly stressful back and lower extremity motions on a daily basis that eventually caused him injuries.
According to the suit, the injuries became so severe in July that Surratt became disabled and unable to work.
Surratt claims that the company failed to provide him with a safe place to work and was negligent for failing to assist their employees and give them proper safety guidelines.
Plaintiff’s Claims
The suit states that because of his injuries he has suffered pain and mental anguish.
Surratt says that due to the injuries he suffered while employed at Union Pacific he is being forced to undergo medical treatment and painful tests.
